"Remember - you were born a natural non-smoker and had to teach yourself to smoke.

Whenever you are ready, hypnotherapy can help you undo that process and return you to your natural state".

"Quitting smoking is like going to the dentist...you put it off for ages and ages...and when you finally get round to it, you wonder why on earth you didn't do it years ago!

How you can Stop Smoking with Professional Hypnotherapy

Every year, thousands of people successfully use hypnosis and hypnotherapy to end the habit of a lifetime and quit smoking.

You can now do the same - and it's much easier than you think.

If you choose to quit smoking using hypnotherapy you are likely to experience:

  • No withdrawal symptoms
  • No substitution with other negative habits (over-eating, nail-biting etc)
  • No 'disgruntled' feeling about quitting (ie having to give up an 'old friend' etc)

Instead, you are likely to feel:

  • Confident in your ability to become a non-smoker - and stay that way
  • Surprisingly relaxed and in control
  • Happier, healthier and free from an old habit - with surprising ease.

Which is probably why hypnotherapy came out on top in the largest ever study into treatments used for quitting smoking, carried out by New Scientist magazine.

"Why is hypnotherapy so effective?"

Hypnotherapy is so effective becuse it tackles your 'inner resistance' to quitting. Despite the fact that you may have consciously decided to stop smoking, there is usually also an inner part of you that does not want to do so - which may be the habit, the 'addiction' or the perceived pleasure of smoking, for example.

As a smoker you know full well that smoking is harmful - yet there are reasons why you have kept on doing it. If you try to quit smoking without taking these reasons into consideration you will most likely run into difficulties

Hypnotherapy addresses these reasons for you and helps you dissolve your inner resistance so that when you decide to quit smoking for good, you do just that.

Nicotine Addiction

The truth about addiction is that cigarettes are not as addictive as the beliefs you have about not smoking. These beliefs are promoted from a young age and you will have subliminally picked these up before you ever picked up a cigarette. Other beliefs about smoking are: that it is more addictive than hard drugs, that people get very angry and out of control without cigarettes, that you will put on weight, you wont be able to cope, it's really hard etc. It is helpful to know these are beliefs and not facts.

Whose beliefs are they? They are powerful suggestions that you have overheard, or been told, or read.

  • Nicotine is addictive. A nicotine craving does not make you crazy. A true nicotine craving will mimic an empty feeling and will pass in a few moments.
  • Many of my clients have maintained a normal weight and some have lost a little. One lady lost 2 ½ stone following a session for smoking. I would love to take all the credit for that, however, it is likely that we added the right suggestions, in the right way and she was already intent on taking control of many aspects of her life. (Weight control is possible with Hypnosis, check the relevant page).
  • You will not have trouble trying to find something to do with your hands because that doesn't occur to Non-Smokers.
  • The feeling you get when you are nervous about when you will have your next cigarette is just that - nerves. Anxiety is created by what you are thinking and is not related to the need for a cigarette or nicotine fix. This again does not exist as a Non-Smoker as there is no anxiety over when you will have another cigarette, the thought does not occur therefore the feeling is not created.
  • What we believe - we experience. "When I tried to stop smoking using other methods, it was hard" Try suggests failure and I had no belief in success.

With Hypnosis / Hypnotherapy, the belief is injected directly into the subconscious mind.  There are many factors that motivate people to quit - money, health, unsociable, family etc. It really doesn't matter which ones affect you as long as the end result is for you.

How successful is it? What sort of success rates do you achieve?"

As previously mentioned, The New Scientist research declared that, of all the treatments available to help you stop smoking, Hypnotherapy was the most successful. (Nicotine patches etc, were way down the list!).

Instead of considering quoted 'success rates' with regard to quitting etc, a more 'testing' question might be to ask whether the majority of smoking clients come from advertising... or referral. (Would you like to go and see someone with the most promising advert...or the most referrals?)

For this particular treatment, my own personal research shows that around 2/3 of my smoking clients do come by way of referral and about 1/3 come from this website, and also that my long-term success rate (which is the most important) is very high.

So can I really help you to quit?"

With regards to "can I really help you, personally, to quit", then all you need is the genuine desire to do so. If somebody else is talking you into it or pushing you into it, and you are agreeing but with a significant degree of resentment, forget it.

However, once you decide that it's time for a change, it doesn't matter how 'addicted' you think you are, there is no reason why hypnosis & hypnotherapy should not be able to help you achieve a successful outcome.
